Blog Post #1, My Top 5 Personal News Outlets

Keeping up to date with the latest news has always been difficult for me so I'm usually more up to date when it comes to entertainment and animation news.

1. Twitter (x.com)

The platform I spend the most time on is Twitter(x), because I follow a lot of great artists and also have been caught in the dopamine loop of scrolling through silly posts and videos (which isn't great). However due to the sheer volume of time I spend on the platform as well as the short nature of the posts I get information very up to date with when things are happening and get a variety of takes on the situation, which helps me form quick, surface level opinions, giving me a starting point if I want to delve deeper into the topic.

2. Animation Magazine (animationmagazine.net)

My second favorite news source is Animation Magazine, because it is a medium I am really into and I like keeping an eye on what is going on in the industry. I get weekly updates in my email with all of the news of cancellations, upcoming projects, and more. The news sphere surrounding animation has become particularly tense as of late with strikes for animators starting up and many many projects being destroyed after being completed for tax write offs.

3. IGN (ign.com)

Third on my list of sources is IGN. This site is great for video game and movie news, but they aren't my favorite due to how bit they are. It's a real quantity over quality and a lot of the articles are pretty clearly tied up in sponsorships and biases. However, they are a great source to hear a lot of firsts and simply a large array of information. (Their reviews are horrible though I never look at or value those.)

4.YouTube(youtube.com)

Fourth on the list is YouTube, which is where I typically go when I'm looking for more detail when it comes to any news that breaks. I have a few channels that will do deeper dives into articles and give some facts along with some opinions. However the channels I follow always make it clear when they are imparting any opinion or bias.

5.Instagram(instagram.com)

Instagram is the lowest on the list because, while it is a site I get a lot of information on, it is one I spend the least amount of time on and the information I usually get is personal news and seeing what is going on in other peoples lives.

My news sources aren't always the most reliable or tapped into much outside of entertainment news, but whenever something big happens I try to take the time to do my own research before jumping to conclusions.
